About the Event
When we feel passionate about something, we naturally want others to agree, and we often try, with the best of intentions, to convince them.
Ironically, if our goal is to persuade or change someone, there’s virtually no chance we’ll be successful. In fact, when people believe something strongly, if we try to change their mind, it often backfires and makes them even more attached to their stance.
Does that mean that we should just retreat and speak only with those who agree with us?
Of course not. (We’re MeckMIN so you expected that, right?)
There are ways of speaking and listening that increase out chances of being heard.
Join us as we explore some basic techniques and frames of mind that make us more likely to have an effective conversation. We’ll focus on vaccines as an example, but everything we share together will be applicable no matter the topic.
