We Need to Talk: Conversations for Healing & Change  - In June 2015 on the heels of the shooting at Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston, SC, MeckMin began hosting a series of conversations designed to give the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community a space to talk, grieve, process, and create ideas for change.

We Need to Talk...about Charleston and Ferguson and Chapel Hill, yes, but also about our shared life together in this community. We need to talk about who we are, where we have been, where we want to go, and how we get there. And we need your voice!

All conversations were held between 7:00pm - 8:30pm from June - September 2015.

MeckMin presents We Need To Talk…One on One, an opportunity to reach out to someone, get to know them and go deeper. Much like Friday Friends, which began over a decade ago, there is a growing need in our community to make intentional efforts to connect with one another across our differences. Let's get to know one other and understand one other, even if we do not always agree.

Join the Facebook Group

It’s simple:

Reach out to someone who is in some way different than you.

  • Someone from a We Need To Talk Community Conversation or MeckMin’s Facebook Group
  • Someone you know casually from work, the gym or your child’s school

Invite him or her to meet with you regularly. For example:

  • Meet for lunch the first Tuesday of each month through December
  • Meet weekly for morning coffee
  • Create your own schedule...just get started!

Spend time getting to know one another.

  • MeckMin will offer conversation starters via our website and Facebook group
