THE LIVING HERITAGE OF OUR NEIGHBORS, THE CATAWBA NATION

Please join us as Bill Harris, Chief of the Catawba Indian Nation, brings to life the history, traditions, and culture of the Catawba people. The Catawba Indians have lived on their ancestral lands along the banks of the Catawba River dating back at least 6000 years, but how many of us, who now share these lands, really know them and understand their rich and ongoing heritage? And how can we be good neighbors without that knowledge and understanding?

As Thanksgiving approaches, with its often-slanted understandings and stories about “the Indians,” we’re honored to host Chief Bill Harris as he shares the authentic story of his nation and its people as well as his vision, as the tribe’s elected leader, of their future. Use your lunch break to encounter the vibrant and living culture of your neighbors — this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!
