Fighting For Our Children
Early childhood education is one of the best investments Charlotte can make!
The Opportunity Task Force, responding to a 2013 study that ranked Charlotte at the bottom of economic mobility among cities its size, said one of the best strategies to achieve better outcomes for children was to focus on early childhood education. Leading on Opportunity, the action arm of the OTF,  has taken up that charge.

Join Faith Talks to discuss the merits of implementing voluntary, universal pre-k in Charlotte where a third of our children start kindergarten lacking the skills necessary for success and where 40 percent of third-graders cannot read at grade level. No question, high-quality early childhood education is a game-changer. Research shows that children who enter the classroom before kindergarten are more likely to go to college and do better in the workforce. Be a part of the conversation, during which we will also discuss ways the faith community can get involved.

Beginning this month, MeckMIN will begin a montly series (including evening sessions) to discuss these issues from a faith perspective.

Join us, along with various faith leaders throughout Charlotte,  and become a part of the conversation.  Advertisements for our evening sessions will be forthcoming.
