Food for Thought
What does it  teach us as an Interfaith Community? How does it inform our work in Charlotte?
Join us for Food For Thought on January 17, 2019 during the week of Dr. King’s birthday as we discuss the challenges of providing economic opportunity for all Charlotteans. King spoke of the Beloved Community, but he argued that the Beloved Community was not possible without a “beloved economy.” King didn’t believe there was a path to genuine prosperity without public policies designed to help the most vulnerable. The dreamer was clear, charity is not enough. “True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar, it comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars need restructuring,” King said.
We look forward to seeing you as we discuss the challenges that Charlotte must address to level the playing field for all of its citizens.
