A local interfaith group is hosting a free workshop this month for church staff and volunteers who want to start or enhance job-seeker support groups.
Mecklenburg Ministries' lunch-and-learn event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Jan 27 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 E. Morehead Street.
The program includes addresses from Mayor Anthony Foxx and Debby Millhouse, president of the CEO Inc. recruiting firm, as well as a panel of experts who will share information from best practices for job support groups to the pros and cons of social networking.
The goal is to offer clergy, church staff and volunteers support and resources to enhance groups or create new ones. There will be time for sharing and discussion, and participants will receive a list of free resources.
Seats are limited, and the event is open only to clergy, employees or volunteers at faith-based groups who want to enhance or start career transition or job-seeker support groups.
