In November, Mecklenburg Ministries hosted its annual interfaith Thanksgiving service at Temple Israel. Beginning in January, Mecklenburg Ministries and Crossroads Charlotte will beging the City-wide Sermon Xchange program.

It’s like “Wife Swap,” but with houses of faith.

Mecklenburg Ministries and Crossroads Charlotte are co-sponsoring the City-wide Sermon Xchange program where congregations can exchange sermons or programs with one another.

The Sermon Xchange program will launch Jan. 15, and is in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The program ends Feb. 28.

The purpose of the program is to foster connections and conversations across different lines of race and religion.

If a church is interested in participating:

• Contact Mecklenburg Ministries or Crossroads Charlotte no later than Jan. 6.

• If there is a specific church you would like to trade homilies with, let them know, or inform them if help is needed finding a congregation.

Crossroads Charlotte was created in 2004 as part of Foundation for the Carolinas’ long range public engagement initiative designed to transform the city’s landscape and increase social capital. Mecklenburg Ministries is a non-profit organization that bridges congregations of interfaith together and promotes racial and ethnic understanding.
