More than 50 ministers, rabbis, imams and others affiliated with Mecklenburg Ministries have released “A Clergy Statement on the Election” in hopes of promoting post-campaign dialogue.

“On a historic day when America has elected its first African American president and North Carolina has elected its first woman governor, let us pledge to reach across the political aisles and across every barrier,” it begins. On Nov. 20, meanwhile, Mecklenburg Ministries will sponsor a panel discussion – “Can We Talk to Each Other after the Election?” – at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1000 E. Morehead St. The 90-minute sit-down starts at 7 p.m.

Panelists: Democrat Anthony Foxx and Republican John Lassiter, both members of Charlotte City Council, and Republican Dan Ramirez and Democrat Jennifer Roberts, both members of Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners…..
