Blessings and peace to our Jewish and Muslim brothers and sisters as they begin theri high holy days. Rosh Hashanah begins the holy days for Jews as the Jewish New Year begins. It will begin at sundown on Wednesday, September 12th. These sacred days are a time of introspection, looking back at the mistakes of the past year, and planning the changes to make in the New Year. Shalom to our Jewish brothers and sisters as they enter these days of renewed responsibility. Ramadan begins on Thursday, September 13th. Ramadan is the most venerated, blessed and spiritually-beneficial month of the Islamic year. Lasting for the entire month, Muslims fast during the daylight hours and in the evening eat small meals, participate in additional prayers, read the Quran, and visit with friends and family. It is a time of worship and contemplation, a time to strengthen one's relationship with Allah (God in Arabic), family and community. Assalamualaikum to our Muslim brothers and sisters as they enter this holy month. |
