Mission

Who We Are

Our mission is to build bridges across differences by engaging clergy, encouraging congregations and energizing the community through the inspiration of our shared faith traditions.

What We Do

Engage Clergy

in building relationships across race and faith in monthly clergy gatherings
in opportunities to enrich their lives through seminars and speakers
in gatherings on issues of race, religion, poverty, immigration and other relevant topics

Encourage congregations

in educational programs that provide understanding and cooperation among the many ethnic, cultural and religious groups in our city
in youth summer camp experiences that immerse participants in a week of service, introspection and understanding of the rich diversity of our community
in suggestions of how congregations can partner with CMS to ensure quality education for every child

Energize the community

in collaborative efforts to address social and humanitarian needs as they arise within Mecklenburg County
in thought-provoking discussions in a safe environment on current issues and hot topics
in interfaith worship opportunities and holiday gatherings that build community across our God-given differences
in encouraging our community to live by the highest values and core virtues of our rich faith traditions

Why We Do It

We believe persons of faith can and should make a positive difference in our community.
We need opportunities to collaborate with people from varying ethnic, religious and economic groups in order to address humanitarian needs in our community.
We want to empower Charlotte's congregations to build constructive relationships with their neighbors from diverse cultural groups and faiths.

Mecklenburg Ministries is a 501(c)(3) organization with a board of directors from Charlotte’s diverse houses of worship including Baha’i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Quaker and Unitarian faith communities.
